Where to stay in Bohol

When I visited Bohol, I stayed at Panglao Vista Suites by SMS Hospitality. This was a great budget friendly hotel that has all the amenities you could want. It has a beautiful swimming pool, a pool bar with a buy one-get one happy hour, and poolside dining delivered from the restaurant. There is also a breakfast buffet for a separate fee so that you can fuel up before your adventures in Bohol. My room was also super clean and very spacious for the low price I paid and had a walk out balcony at pool level.

Pros and cons of Panglao Vista Suites

The value received at this resort was pretty great for not being very expensive per night. Below are some pros and cons of staying at this property

Pros

  • The resort is beautiful and well maintained.
  • The swimming pool is really nice, and the pool deck has ample reclining chairs for you to relax poolside.
  • My room was very clean and spacious.
  • The food from the restaurant was delicious. I had two dinners at the pool bar and both meals were quite tasty.
  • The buy one get one happy hour at the pool bar was a great additional amenity
  • The property also has a gym, laundry service, and they can arrange transportation for you to and from the ferry terminal.
  • The staff was very friendly and welcoming during my entire visit.

Cons

  • The property is a little way away from other restaurants, the beach, and ATMs, so you will need to walk a decent distance or take a tuk-tuk to get to these places.
  • The property requires a cash damage deposit for your stay, so you will need to be sure you have enough cash on hand for this deposit.
  • The bathroom in my room had a foul sewer smell. I simply kept my bathroom door closed, so it did not permeate my room, but the smell was a little off-putting.
  • A lot of the items on the food menu were not available while I was there, so I had to order alternative items to what I preferred to eat.
  • The pool gets limited sunlight since it is located between both of the hotel towers, so there is limited time that you can relax poolside in the sun.

My ultimate recommendation

I would certainly recommend staying here if you are looking for a beautiful hotel with all the amenities at a budget price. If I return to Bohol, I will absolutely consider staying here again given the budget friendly price and all of the amenities that were included. You can check rates and availability for Panglao Vista Suites here.

If you are not travelling on a lower budget and are looking for more luxury and a beachfront stay, take a look at Bohol Beach Club or Oceanica Resort Panglao. These resorts are right on Dumaluan Beach and have exquisitely maintained grounds and private lounge chairs reserved just for resort guests.
