Visit Horseshoe Bend at sunset
Horseshoe Bend is world famous for the amazing views you get of the Colorado River flowing through an almost perfect horseshoe shaped bend in the canyon. This area is very busy and touristy, but for really good reasons. The red canyon walls and the blue river water make for some stunning views and the photographs that you can acquire are breathtaking. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk out to the viewing area from the parking lot, but you walk along a well-maintained trail that makes the trek very easy. The entire walk to the overlook and back is approximately 1.5 miles.
I would recommend visiting at sunset so you can view the sun dropping below the horizon behind the bend in the canyon. The entrance fee is pretty reasonable as well for such a well-visited site. Passenger cars only cost $10.00 for admission and motorcycles are only $5.00. If you are using a DSLR or Mirrorless camera for your photos, I would recommend taking a wide-angle lens so that you are fully able to capture the bend in the canyon as well as the river at the bottom.

Take a tour through Antelope Canyon
If you visit Page, Arizona, you absolutely should plan to go on one of the tours through Antelope Canyon. This slot canyon is so spectacular. The views are amazing and constantly changing around each bend. The tours are also on Navajo Land, so taking a tour helps support the Navajo guides that take you on the tour. You are not allowed to take videos on the tour, but the photographs you capture will be phenomenal.
The guides even point out specific features of the canyon that you can photograph. There is one place that was used for the background wallpaper for Windows operating systems a few years back. Your guide will help you take that photo and you can compare it to the old Windows wallpaper when you get home. This tour is an absolute must do in my opinion if you are going to be in Page, Arizona. I took the Lower Antelope Canyon Tour, but I heard the Upper Antelope Canyon Tour is also quite amazing. You can book tour tickets for either section of canyon in advance through Viator here.
Visit the “cave” behind the Shell gas station
A very quick side tour that will give you some neat photographs is the “cave” located behind the Shell gas station. This cave is actually just a small alcove that gives some neat perspectives when you take wide-angle photographs from within the alcove. You can find the Shell gas station at 1501 AZ-98, Coppermine Rd, Page, AZ 86040. To find the alcove, you simply walk a few hundred yards behind the Shell station. If you look up the area on Google Maps, you will find the alcove labeled as Biidi the Arch. This stop will probably take you less than half an hour, but it is worth getting a few quick photographs if you are already in the area.

Go swimming or boating at Lake Powell
If you are visiting Page, Arizona, you should plan to take some time to visit Lake Powell. The visitor’s center is quite informative and does a great job of explaining the history of the lake and the massive feat of creating the Glen Canyon Dam. Once you have finished at the visitor’s center, you can go swimming at the swimming beach or rent a boat and go boating on the lake. There are also many tour operators that will take you kayaking below the dam so you can kayak through Horseshoe Bend. Should you have extra time in Page, these other top tours would also be worth looking into.
If you go to Page, Arizona:
When I visited, I stayed at the Best Western Plus at Lake Powell. This was a pretty great hotel within walking distance to many restaurants in Page. It is also within a short walk of Grand Canyon Brewing, which is a really cool place to hang out and drink a craft beer. The Best Western Plus also had a really nice outdoor pool and hot tub that increased the quality of the stay. There is also a continental breakfast to get you fueled for your day of adventuring around Page. You can check out rates and availability for the Best Western Plus here.
